Nav exam, Steep turns Slow Flight and PFL

Navigation exam again today. Think I should pass this time. Met Kiren, Jiawen and Jolyn as well as some other YFC peeps there. They too are taking thier Nav and Met.
After finishing the paper, Went to the observation deck to watch aircraft landing. pretty nice watching SIA jets taking off and knowing that I hopefully will be doing that in 10 years time. God willing.

Headed to Seletar and was at 9V-BOQ at abt 2.30pm. My whole preflight checks took a whole 30 mins. So we taxied to the holding point at about 3 o clock. Damn the airport was real busy today. We were delayed another 30 mins at the holding position along with some YFC PA28s. WHile waiting and watching the Dash-7 and Lear take-off and YFC Pipers landing....Talk cock with Darshan. Things like these "Oooh that YFC girl's voice damn cute." and other monikers went around the intercom.

After Airborne, Proceeded to Area Alpha to do Slow flight. Pretty ok But must watch my height and speed as well as heading. Must improve on my height maintenance skills. Steep turns next. Man That was FUN!!! Feel the G forces. But I really have to work on my maintaining my height for that. I kept losing altitude as the turn got steeper. But nvm I sure will work on that. After that returned to Seletar for PFL.

My PFL was slightly better than the last one. I landed just over the target spot. Must get that right next time. My last normal circuit was not very good. Rather shaky on the landing and I rounded up too late. Must remember to take note.

Points that Darshan told me to pay attention too.
1) Aviate Navigate and Communicate: I could only do 1 thing at a time. Must learn to multi-task by being ready for the flight. Mental flying and read the materials before next flights
2) Area Knowledge: Must learn to familiarise myself with Area Alpha.
3) RT: Learn to respond correctly, accurately and Immediately after being called. Pay attention to RT even when doing other tasks.

Next flight Sunday. Gotta prepare those stuff

CAAS exam and CCTS flight

Navigation and Meteorology. I think I flunked at least one paper. I hope somehow by miracle can pass tho. Hope to get my PPL without failing any paper...but tink must change to without failing more than 2 papers. At least I made more friends from the YFC.

Went to Seletar alone after that. Ate at the canteen and found out the RSAF Colonel that lives at my block also is no longer RSAF. Col. Peter Lim is now flying with ST. Hehe might be another job I'll look out for in future. Corporate Pilot. hehe I still think SIA better. Oh yeah...SIA having internship for JC students enf of the year...Must go for it.

Did the whole pre-flight myself while Darshan sorted a new guy(Ryan Yeap) out. Took off. This time RT spot on. Sounded damn professional. Take-off was good...Visibility damn clear(CAVOK). Could see all the way to the CBD area. Great scenery.

Seletar Airport is rather busy nowadays. More executive corporate as well as tourist aircraft coming to Seletar. Air Macau's Boeing...Berjaya Air's Dash-7..ST's Lear 45 and a private AN-2 Colt( THis is a frigging old Russian Biplane). That Biplane is real slow on the climb and approach. Yeah very interesting aircrafts. They were all around today.

My skills on circuit were a little rusty on the first run...was too near the runway on downwind...hey wad can one expect? (It was on Runway 21 downwind) I am not familiar with doing circuits the other way from RWY 03. But then after that...the landing a little off centerline...But still not bad. 2nd Normal circuit was better. Distance between rwy and downwind was further and better. tho i went crosswind a little longer. Landing was good... Landed on the centreline...Pretty good.

Subsequently, did Flapless, Glide and Low Level. Flapless was not bad...have to improve my speed control. Glide....Judgement is nearly there...Low Level...Must improve technique and speed control.

All the landings were great... Nice soft touchdowns on centerline.
Now I feel the satisfaction of coming back into flying after 2 mths.
The full exhilaration of what I have missed. I am pretty sure this is what i wanna do the rest of my life.

Back after 2 mths

Wahoo...My exile's over...I've got back my wings and yeah i get to soar the friendly skies again....then again not so friendly. Rain like siaoz todae...lucky can fly tho...visibility cleared up.

Took off from runway 21...climbed to Area Alpha. Yeah man back to the place where i can just flit around. My handling was quite good...better than i thought it wld be after 2 mths absence. When we were climbing from 1500 ft to 3000 ft. I spotted a Cessna 152 just below us..about 1000 feet below.

"Hey Darshan... Aircraft errr...9...9 o clock Low!"
"Negative Contact"
"There! He's right there...Down there climbing...Damn...THERE! Below us! To our left!"
"Ok Contact I see him. IS he on converging path as us?"
"Er...Dun think so...Nope he aint gonna converge."

Yeah it went sth liddat. My sharp eyesight is still there. Spotted more aircraft and choppers b4 Darshan. Thought he did catch one b4 I did...but just a split second before I did.

OK Stalling...Full Power off stall was no problem. The approach stall was sucky...I just couldn;'t make the plane stall even though I was yanking on the control column like King Kong....Well at least I know this girl wont stall this easily. But dammit it might lead to my demise in the Flight Test. So dammit she has to stall for me. In the end... I got it somewhat. By that time no more time to continue so we headed back home.

Did my first PFL todae. Engine failure at 2500ft (Simulated) PRetty easy...Altho I misjudged since its the first time doing it on runway 21. Went in high and landed way after the threshold. I thought of doing a DFD (Dive for the Deck, but decided that it might be a wee bit dangerous so nixed the idea and go in high...the runway was upsloping so the plane touched down before i washed off all the speed. Not a bad landing tho.

I think I did better than I expected. But the same can't be said for my RT...argh my RT was f***ed.... Help! RT will be in less than 10 days time... Oh and Must go Mug for NAV and MET exam tmr.

Nav and Met

Argh! I hate studying for these 2 subjects. Very tedious. Man and there ain't no flying until May 11. Guess I should be studying hard for JC work but dammit I have to juggle both.

I just can't wait till MAy 11th where I won't be earth-bound anymore. Dunno but I just feel like writing. Kinda puts things into perspective. I kinda miss shooting the shit with Lox and Mad Dog...

Yeah man, I just got my new Seiko watch as a reward for my 1st Solo from Dad. Woohoo!...

Well I just gotta focus , pray more and hope I'll pass my Nav and Met with at least 80%.
